President’s Welcome Message

Welcome to the 2022 NISOA Preseason Guide!

With 10 NCAA major rule changes and 21 editorial changes for the 2022-2023 rule years, I could not be more proud of the team who contributed to this guide and our in-person and online clinics and other trainings the first half of this year. It has been a great job by everyone with lots of positive feedback, and more is to come!

In January we launched the NISOA Membership Portal, where we are building out a national interface to make it the exclusive location for NISOA training and educational content, and where we are working to make it the one-stop shop for registration and membership matters. There are many training videos on the portal and members have been discussing questions and interpretations to prepare them for the season. 2,835 members have already joined, and if you have not joined us on the Membership Portal already, I encourage you to join your fellow referees and participate before the season starts. You can access the portal by going to nisoa.com and then clicking on “Member Login” on the upper right portion of the screen.

Following the online theme, this is the second year that the Preseason Guide is digital, after a lot of positive feedback from last year’s digital platform where we had 16 educational and motivational articles from experienced NISOA contributors. As a national non-profit organization, we constantly look for ways to reach our members by the most cost effective means possible, and the Membership Portal and the online Preseason Guide allow us to do that and save us resources for more robust in-person and online training clinics.

This year is another year of some great NISOA benefits and Partner discounts. As you are looking to prepare for this season and replace or build out your gear, make sure to register with and complete your background checks through the NCAA to become NCAA Tournament eligible, and check out the NISOA Partner pages within the Membership Portal for discounted and NISOA-branded gear from our Partners, like OSI, Lululemon, duKTig, and others.

Lastly, I want to again thank our executive team and numerous volunteers for all their hard work and hours dedicated to making NISOA a great organization to be a part of and for developing, executing, and distributing the top tier educational content and training to which our members have become accustomed. Thank you!

Good luck to you and your referee teammates this 2022 season from everyone at NISOA!
